Glasser's latest is a powerful extension of his long list of well known titles (including Control Theory in the Classroom, The Quality School : Managing Students Without Coercion, Reality Therapy). A major message that runs through his work is that we are free agents -- we choose our actions independent of the circumstances. He illustrates the principle by describing Corning, New York, an entire community that is attempting to put this theory into practice. Over time, additional data from Corning will be illuminating.
Missing from this text is any mention of recent brain research -- for instance, "hijacking of the amygdala." I would be more willing to accept Glasser's conclusions if he provided more evidence, examples, and data.
